I BOUGHT A BELT

Image
Hi Mom. I HAD TO BUY A BELT BECAUSE MY PANTS ARE TOO LOOSE. Without Belt: With belt: Cute cute. I also hesitate to mention that I already use the last hole, but it still had a good comfy hold. You can also kind of tell that right under my glutes (I didn't want to say butt) its super loose. I LOVE SEEING PROGRESS. Speaking of, my measurements are kind of all over the place. I lost half an inch in my waist and hips since last measuring, yet gained half an inch-an inch in my thighs and calves, and arms. But visually knowing that everything is tighter, it most likely means that the muscle I've been building is taking the place of the fat I've been losing. So while I am losing the squishy stuff, I'm building harder muscles that don't fold to the measuring tape as easily as before. Which is awesome because I would much rather be fit and strong and than just slim. I basically want to be Samantha Wright: ....maybe in like 5 years.....

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Hi Mom. I'm in a great mood because I just got back from seeing "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" with my friend Clelia and just wow. It is quite possibly my newest favorite movie, concept and all-encompassing thing. First off I should say, this movie is not going to be winning any award. As much as I'd vote for it, I don't think it's quite got the advertising stamina or the initial push that most award winning movies have during their opening weekends. I say this mainly because I was 1 of about maybe 15 people in the theater, that's also counting the few people who were obviously movie hopping and came in halfway through. Assuming almost everyone in the world is at least familiar with the general plot of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice", this adaption, originally written in 2009 by Seth Grahame-Smith, takes it into the present, but not by having it set there. Instead it's taken a very popular, modern day idea of the 'zombie ...

Really Grinds my Gears

Image
Hi Mom. This really isn't a life-shattering, or even day changing thing, but I came across something on Facebook this morning that really bugged me, and not for the reason it seemed to bug everyone else. And of course it was one of those mass shared videos with hundreds of thousands of comments, so me voicing my two sentences of why I didn't agree seemed pointless and like shouting into a void. While BLOGGING about it is hardly any different, at least I know my mom will read it :D Our youth... this video is truly terrifying Posted by Salon on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 The video is titled: "Our Youth...this video is truly terrifying." Sigh, okay. I understand why people's initial reaction to go to is, "wow youth today is so stupid, how could you not know the answers to those important history/present day politics questions and know all of those pop culture ones about  celebrities?  This generation is so jaded." It's a common thing to...

Faceless Figures

Image
Hi Mom. No classes today (woo) to make up for MLK JR Day. So with my afternoon (since I spent all morning organizing my passport hard drive and digging up a couple of old computer's worth of files) I decided to draw (shocker). At one point I received an email from madeby Gallery (the little store/gallery on the first floor of my dorm/Student Center) asking students to submit some pieces to possibly sell. They wrote, " Often, customers come in with the interest of the nude human body, done in a soft and sensual way. The artwork that sells the most however, is the pieces with no identity or face. So, that is exactly what madeby gallery is looking for: nudes with “no faces”, with SOFT and SENSUAL theme." Sounds right up my alley, whether or not the drawings I start actually end up anywhere. Beware, these got a little morbid. So rather than just leave the faces blank, I decided to go with a cloth/veil sort of theme because nothing says soft and sensual like some flowy f...

Good Morning

Image
Hi Mom. This morning went better than anticipated, considering i woke up at 7:30 (went to bed around 1) and couldn't go back to sleep. Not a great start. So, I got up and decided since I was up that I might as well go the things I needed at Walmart cause I'd have to go at some point and this way I could beat the afternoon heat and everyone else who needed the same things. 8am is a good time to go grocery shopping, apparently. Good parking spot, all new carts, and few people to get stuck behind or have to say 'excuse me you're standing right in front of the peanut butter I need, talking to someone as if you haven't seen them in 10 years but lets be honest you guys are neighbors. Please MOVE.' (you know who you are). In the produce section were some really pretty, [cheap] flowers, so I got me some flowers because I can. And found a cheap vase that I thought was super pretty. Flowers make every room nicer. I am probably the only student at Ringling who h...

Productive Saturdays/Classes Update

Image
Hi Mom. The last two Saturdays have been consecutively therapeutic. Something about grocery/supply shopping, doing laundry and organizing my room after whirl-winding through the days prior is very relaxing. Even today when I had to wait an hour and a half to get my new tires, I spent the entire time in the Starbucks next door doing some cafe drawings (drawing unsuspecting people quickly). Here are my favorites from today: There were plenty more, but people tend to move so these were the people that stayed relatively stagnant while I was drawing. I was in the corner by a window for the most part and I know the girl next to me, who was past bored with the textbook open in front of her, kept glancing over. I half expected her to say something but she eventually left and my first official cafe drawing session went unnoticed, which is fine by me. I just hope when I'm a multi-million dollar artist that someone might care if I'm drawing them! (just kidding...except for the multi-...

Dorm Life Frustrations

Image
Hi Mom. I'm blogging tonight mainly because I am so beyond frustrated with living in a dorm. And before you jump to the usual complaints, it actually isn't because of my Bugle Eating, Vampire of a roommate...at least not tonight. I've been doing really good this past week and half that I've been back at school - as far as the weight loss goes. For those who don't know, over Winter Break I was perscribed Phentermine by my doctor to help with my weightless journey. Because at 4'10 and a 148 lbs I am quite overweight. So, the Phentermine has kicked in and I've lost 4 lbs (I'm sure it's mostly water weight, but I'll take it) so far. And I've been really getting into working out and researching what natural foods are the best and exactly what they do to the body - I'm even thinking of going to the farmer's market this weekend. I even bought natural peanut butter - of course this was before I learned that almond butter is much better fo...
