Zombies on Broadway

Hi Mom.

For my Lit class I'm currently writing my Genre History paper and I've decided to write about Zombie Comedies. As I was researching, I stumbled on "Zombies on Broadway" (1945). Ahuh, you can bet I looked that up right away.

IMDB summary:

Two bumbling press agents must search for a zombie to fulfill a commitment to their ex-gangster boss's new nightclub or face the consequences.

Plot synopsis via Wikipedia:

Jerry Miles and Mike Strager are employed as Broadway press agents. Their latest idea is to hire a "genuine zombie" for the opening of the Zombie Hut, a new cabaret nightclub owned by gangster Ace Miller that will open on Friday the 13th of the next month. The boys plan is to dress a former boxer up as a zombie, figuring no one will know the difference. However, Ace's nemesis, a Walter Winchell type radio celebrity is friends with the boxer and vows he will publicly humiliate Ace Miller if a real zombie is not at the opening of the club.
The boys are threatened with death unless they produce a real zombie. They discover a lead from a museum curator that a mysterious Professor Renault lives on the Caribbean island of San Sebastian and has been creating zombies. Followed by Ace's henchmen, the boys are immediately placed on a tramp steamer sailing to San Sebastian in the Virgin Islands and ordered to bring a real zombie back or forfeit their lives. Upon arrival they meet the beautiful cabaret singer Jean La Dance. In exchange for her help in locating Professor Renault, Jean wants passage off the island. Miles and Strager eventually meet up with the zombie expert Professor Renault. Unknown to them, the professor's zombie has captured Jean and brought her to the Professor's secret laboratory, While Miles and Strager investigate the house, Jean awakes to find herself gagged and strapped to a table as the Professor's next test subject. Before he can proceed to give Jean the serum his guard dogs detect intruders. Jean is quickly spirited to a secret dungeon where she is tied up but manages to escape. Strager becomes "zombified" by being under the spell of Renault's secret formula and Miles, Jean and Strager the zombie return home where Miller's henchmen are waiting for them. Convinced that Strager is a real zombie, they bring him to the club. When Strager comes out of his trance, the boys must face the wrath of Ace Miller, a nightclub owner, who is more frightening then anything they've seen yet

Hi Mom. I may have mentioned last month - to you and Jason mostly - that I sent in an application to volunteer at the Humane Society of Sarasota County. It had been something I'd been thinking about doing since coming to Ringling, mainly because of the lack of animal socialization I receive living in a dorm on a college campus. When I started baby-talking to the local squirrels before winter break, I knew something needed to change. Then, Katy passed away. It's easy to not think about it, especially when I'm so far away and in a place I would never associate Katy with. Katy wasn't a part of my Ringling experience. Putting Off Homework

Hi Mom. I'm really not putting off homework, considering I have all weekend to do it - and I WILL start tonight, but I would rather be writing this post than doing it so...here I am. Today started 'early' (7:15) today with Figure Drawing which was a work out. The entire class we did sets of 10 two minute poses, a bunch of three minute poses and then what seemed like forever of 30 second poses. I was exhausted after, but I loved it. Spent lunch in the cafe in the Academic Center, and then read my book until my first Storytelling class, which I think will be kind of awesome. There will be lots of writing involved, but it's the best kind of writing: creative/fiction. The fact that I will not be writing about grammar and research essays, like I would have had I not dropped Writer's Studio, makes me very happy. My teacher is an interesting character for sure. Charlie

Hi Mom (and everyone else), Welp...it's been a year. A little more than a year actually. And what a year it was. So many things happened, some great things...and some heartbreaking. But I'm back. We'll see if it sticks,  I hear my pessimistic voice say. But one blog post won't kill me, if anything it's a welcome distraction (I am currently sitting at my post at my school's Fitness Center, swiping cards. One can only watch so many episodes of America's Next Top Model in a row before looking for another distraction). I may eventually delve into the life altering events that occurred during these past fifteen months that I've refused to blog, but for now, let me gush about the newest addition to my life: Charlie. This is Charlie, if you hadn't already guess ^  (featuring a blurry Bill in the background) Jason and I adopted Charlie on April 28th, my last week of sophomore year at Ringling.
