Good Morning
Hi Mom.
This morning went better than anticipated, considering i woke up at 7:30 (went to bed around 1) and couldn't go back to sleep. Not a great start. So, I got up and decided since I was up that I might as well go the things I needed at Walmart cause I'd have to go at some point and this way I could beat the afternoon heat and everyone else who needed the same things. 8am is a good time to go grocery shopping, apparently. Good parking spot, all new carts, and few people to get stuck behind or have to say 'excuse me you're standing right in front of the peanut butter I need, talking to someone as if you haven't seen them in 10 years but lets be honest you guys are neighbors. Please MOVE.' (you know who you are).
In the produce section were some really pretty, [cheap] flowers, so I got me some flowers because I can. And found a cheap vase that I thought was super pretty. Flowers make every room nicer.
I've officially fallen into a skirts phase. Having recently developed a mood board (a collaboration of pictures of fashion I am drawn to and love) I discovered that aside from the usual jeans and a t-shirt, I am drawn to what I call "a 40s era prim archeologist". Basically high waisted skirts, rolled up sleeves, earthy tones, good flow, comfortable fit, not too much structure. My first outfit hit that on the head. It's also nice to add that I am officially a solid medium. When last semester I was always tittering between big mediums to a good side large. Everything I got today was medium.
I can usually tell just by a feel of how stretchy the fabrics in the arm is to know if a shirt is going to be too tight around my arms, which used to be very often. Most things that weren't made out of super soft, stretchy cotton ended up cutting off the circulation in usually my left arm (since it's slightly bigger).
Outfit #2 is less vintage look and more inspired, with the a-line skirt and looks tank top. The shirt's color is super rich and vibrant, the picture doesn't do it justice.

I am probably the only student at Ringling who has a sweet potato in her room. With the arrival of my new microwave (courtesy of my grandparents) I got a few things so that I can actually make a meal in my room when the school's cafeteria decides to have their usual, bland, fried food. But I digress. In my little box of a pantry is now a sweet potato, couple cans of chicken, some whole wheat spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, brown rice, can of black beans, cans of assorted veggies, instant Spanish rice (which definitely does not fall under the clean eating category), some whole wheat tortillas and wheat bread (finally caved).
*Edit: While writing this post I stopped for lunch and decided to try out my new ingredients. First soft taco a success in taste, sort of a run around in preparing since i have zero counter space and cannot spill anything because aside from a paper towel, it's not getting cleaned any more thoroughly. No doubt I'll get quicker in time. But for now my chicken, black bean and Spanish rice burrito is awesome, if not a little high in calories - thanks Spanish Rice (worth it).
By the time I had everything packed up in my black, rolling laundry hamper - which is how I transfer groceries from my car that is usually parked far away from my building, up the 4 floors and to my hall - it was 9 o'clock and I really didn't want to go back right away. It was a nice morning, I had new tires that were riding super smooth and I'd driven my car all of 4 miles in the past week (literally last Saturday). So, in honor of my mother who taught me the secret of Goodwill, I went over to the relatively big Goodwill just down the street from my school. And I scored.

Both skirts just happened to be never worn. Double score.
Once, unpacked and back in my room I came to the realization that I had no skirt hangers. Because before now, I did not own a skirt, or at least one that needed hanging. And to avoid wrinkles, these skirts NEEDED hanging.
My Solution:
Downsides: Had to give up my pretty clips. Upside: they work.
Find of the Day: never worn, super sturdy, waterproof safari hat. "A safari hat?" you may ask. Let me tell you a short tale of Jason and the debate on buying a $60 Safari Hat at Disney World's Animal Kingdom last month. Just kidding, thats it. He saw a hat he wanted, looked at the price tag, debated with himself for a good while until I urged him to keep looking. Because as cool as it was it was $60 for a hat that he'd probably wear for one day. GRANTED, he will probably never actually have a reason to wear this hat, but THIS ONE was $6.
