Me Right Now

Hi Mom. Little homesick for my people.

Accomplishment

Image
Hi Mom! I am proud of myself. Today was my first cardio focused day. 60 minutes. All cardio. And I freaking did it. Below is my ellipticals stats. 60 minutes and 14 seconds with a distance of 6.29 miles. Lemme say that again. 6.29 MILES. Ignore the right two stats they were my in the moment speed and calories burned per hour, but since I was in my cool down I was obviously going way slower than I had been the rest of the time. I burned somewhere around 630 calories (more than I've eaten so far today by a good few!) Best part? I WALKED UP THE STAIRS AND DIDNT EVEN STUMBLE. I didn't even have noodle legs. I also experienced my first second wind ever. (First because I've never run long enough to even use up my first wind). That second wind probably helped me get back up my dorm stairs. Somehow my hair still had its usual volume in the front. But the back was drenched. Along with my Dobby shirt :( didn't think that one through. Sorry for all the sweat.

Mailing Mishaps

Image
Hi Mom. Had some mailing issues recently. Nothing too terrible that digging a little further couldn't solve. A few weeks ago I used the amazon gift cards I received to buy a few things. 2/4 had arrived while 3/4 should have. I got my small portfolio to hold some class work, and my new Mickey lanyard. My mandala tapestry should have gotten here on Monday (which my tracking thing said it DID ITS SOMEWHERE) but when I asked the mailing office if they had it they looked it up and said they didn't. Um okay? Even though it is tracked by scans and the scan SAID it was left at the front desk. They suggested I wait a few days cause it might mean that its in Sarasota but not at Ringling. EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS ITS DELIVERED I LITERALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THEIR LOGIC. So I waited. Till today (Friday). What motivated me was my lovely parents' care package arrived. AT LEAST THAT GOT HERE. So when I picked that up I asked the girl at the desk about the package. She looked up my trac

Medical Issues

Image
Hi Mom. Guess who woke up with Pink Eye. Bet ya can't guess which eye it is. Just kidding. So went over to the Health Services building for my first walk in. Filled out the usual new patient forms and waited.  Then, something else happened while I was in the office. Something that really scared me. The nurse took me through all the usual tests of temperature, heart moniter and then the blood pressure test, the things I have come to expect when I sit down in a doctor's office. I didn't think anything of it. That is, until my nurse did a double take at the monitor and asked me if I'd ever had high blood pressure before. I've had body image issues for a long time (what girl doesn't), long before my BMI became an issue. But I never really took it seriously because all of the mixed messages a girl can get, "don't change yourself for someone else's idea of beautiful!" "beauty is on the inside!" And while I am blessed to be sur

Good day

Hi Mom, Today was good. Mentally I was all here and not focused on my unbearable homesickness. In Figure Drawing I felt loose and good (aside from the frustration that is my figure drawing teacher but thats a whole another can of worms). And I did get to Skype with my Jason for a good hour since both of my roommates were in afternoon classes and I don't normally like to talk loudly with the two of them in the room. I'm just polite that way.  I caved and resubscribed to Spotify Premium because I really took for granted when I had it and didn't understand the annoyance of ads every few songs and not being able to listen what song I wanted to listen to at that moment. Really throws off your flow when you're drawing or doing homework when a very loud annoying voice shouts into your headphones about what type of car you should buy RIGHT NOW. Then I decided to be a socialite and go over to the Demo that was going on tonight for the Illustration Department. Basically, a

Too Cute 2nd one for Winter when my hair will be a little less boyish and I've gone crazy from school.

Appreciate

HI Mom. Please appreciate the luck that is my parking spot. Last spot on the street beside Appleton. Aside from that, I've been uber sick since Friday I slept most of the weekend. I've gone through a whole box of cold medicine. And of course its that throat crud so just that constant pain in there has been fun. Nothing compared to when I had Strep last winter and thought I was going to die. Still been feeling crappy.

Hero (2002)

Image
Hi Mom! Prepare for some beautiful stills. Today in Film we watched Hero (2002) which it being a subtitled, Chinese movie I wasn't expecting to see what I saw. Today I fell in love all over again with color. This movie's use of color and CONTROLLING the color was breathtaking along with just the settings and all of the beautiful cloth. But before, anecdote: as our teacher went to pull up his presentation pre-movie where we were going to get a lecture of camera movements, one of the last scenes of the movie started playing. A very big spoiler scene. LOL OH WELL. Our teacher goes, "Welp, that's the class. What's the point now?" Jokes aside I was really surprised on how much I liked this movie. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind reading subtitles (which I know my mom doesn't). Someone barcoded the movie and I think it really shows the range you get. All of the frames compressed is still gorgeous.  Seriously

Hallelujah & Birthday Packages Pt. 3

Image
Hi Mom. This morning is fraught with anxiety and just not wanting to go to Drawing class. Well boy oh boy this morning was a much needed turn of events. Not long after class started our teacher asked us to put up our pieces on the wall. That could only mean one thing: critique. Lord strike me down now. Instead, my prayers were answered. My Drawing teacher told us we would get until next class period (Thursday) to fix whatever we wanted about our drawings. And I had just said the night before, "If I had another day I would re-ink entirely." I don't believe in coincidences. This was the big man upstairs throwing me a bone. And I am super happy for it. After a great morning class I started working on my re-inking of the Hall of Oddities assignment, and it's coming along nicely. Will post later since I have to scan it for class anyways before Thursday. While I stayed after class and started redoing my drawing, I learned a possible new meaning of the phrase, "star

HERE THERE BE PRIVATE PARTS

Image
Hi Mom. WARNING NAKED DRAWINGS OF PEOPLE AHEAD. HERE THERE BE PRIVATE PARTS. It really is amazing how desensitized I've been to naked people thanks to drawing. Last week when Emily was out here I asked her to pose for me so I could get some Figure Drawing homework out of the way and since it's FIGURE Drawing and not CLOTHED PEOPLE Drawing I decided not to draw her clothes. Her relatives thought it was hysterical that she looked naked in my drawings, even though it looks like a faceless person, you really can't tell its her. I even had a class mate ask if my model had been naked. My drawings are just that convincing. Wish I had asked her to be crouching in that first pose. Otherwise I like the three to the right. Aside from the fact that she looks like she's picking up poop.  sorry for the shadow ANYWAYS main point of blog (I got distracted with that anecdote): So while I've been completely stressing out over Drawing I am starting to see improvement in

Birthday Packages Pt. 2

Image
Hi Mom. Today I woke up really homesick. Aside from that, I beat the Dragon Age Inquisition DLC Trespasser this morning, so that was nice. IT WAS AWESOME but I digress. Really, I was putting off inking my first drawing assignment: Hall of Oddities (will post later). Talk about stress. I know my teacher is going to pick my piece apart and as of right now I'm ready to receive my first D. Which really sucks. Like I can appreciate this learning experience and that's ultimately my goal: to learn. But I've got to get grades along the way. And man a bad grade can really kill your spirit. So, aside from that bummer that's slowly giving me an ulcer, I received two packages! Both of which I was not expecting/completely forgot were coming. First up is from Miss. Ali (who has impeccable taste in everything). The card itself was gorgeous and I got another mug to add to my collection, which is starting to overtake the top of our microwave. Before she sent my package, Ali
