WARNING NAKED DRAWINGS OF PEOPLE AHEAD. HERE THERE BE PRIVATE PARTS.

It really is amazing how desensitized I've been to naked people thanks to drawing. Last week when Emily was out here I asked her to pose for me so I could get some Figure Drawing homework out of the way and since it's FIGURE Drawing and not CLOTHED PEOPLE Drawing I decided not to draw her clothes. Her relatives thought it was hysterical that she looked naked in my drawings, even though it looks like a faceless person, you really can't tell its her. I even had a class mate ask if my model had been naked. My drawings are just that convincing.

Wish I had asked her to be crouching in that first pose. Otherwise I like the three to the right. Aside from the fact that she looks like she's picking up poop.

So while I've been completely stressing out over Drawing I am starting to see improvement in my Figure Drawing class. Over the weekend we had to upload what we considered to be our best works so for. Three from in class and three that we did for homework.

This one I didn't know if it would count because its not really a gesture anymore. But I put it in because dat contrast.

 #2 Sketchbook (3 minutes each)
 #3 Sketchbook (3 min)
 #4 Sketchbook (3 min)
#1 In Class Gesture (half of a four part sequential each 5 minutes)
 #2 In Class Gesture (2 minutes)
#3 In Class Gesture (5 minutes each, four part sequential)

Now I just have to pass Drawing and we can move even more forward. Below is that Hall of Oddities assignment that is due tomorrow. Aka my first piece of art to probably warrant me a D grade. You can say, "Oh no Sammy it looks great" all you want, but I know my teacher. Trust me on this. I'm preparing for the worst. One rant: I hate those things I put in between the arches to try and doll up the columns. If I had another day I would fight a light box and take them out all together. But too late now. 

sorry its kind of fuzzy. It's only a 12x14 piece and my smart phone was fighting me on focus. Basically its a Deep Sea Museum with a lot of weird fish (mainly mutated, one eyed kind of thing).

Putting Off Homework

Hi Mom. I'm really not putting off homework, considering I have all weekend to do it - and I WILL start tonight, but I would rather be writing this post than doing it so...here I am. Today started 'early' (7:15) today with Figure Drawing which was a work out. The entire class we did sets of 10 two minute poses, a bunch of three minute poses and then what seemed like forever of 30 second poses. I was exhausted after, but I loved it. Spent lunch in the cafe in the Academic Center, and then read my book until my first Storytelling class, which I think will be kind of awesome. There will be lots of writing involved, but it's the best kind of writing: creative/fiction. The fact that I will not be writing about grammar and research essays, like I would have had I not dropped Writer's Studio, makes me very happy. My teacher is an interesting character for sure. Volunteer Orientation at HSSC

Hi Mom. I may have mentioned last month - to you and Jason mostly - that I sent in an application to volunteer at the Humane Society of Sarasota County. It had been something I'd been thinking about doing since coming to Ringling, mainly because of the lack of animal socialization I receive living in a dorm on a college campus. When I started baby-talking to the local squirrels before winter break, I knew something needed to change. Then, Katy passed away. It's easy to not think about it, especially when I'm so far away and in a place I would never associate Katy with. Katy wasn't a part of my Ringling experience. She was the thing I got to see when I flew home for holidays/breaks. She wasn't here she was there...now she's...not. But now that she's gone I'd do anything to make it so she was. Mailing Mishaps

Hi Mom. Had some mailing issues recently. Nothing too terrible that digging a little further couldn't solve. A few weeks ago I used the amazon gift cards I received to buy a few things. 2/4 had arrived while 3/4 should have. I got my small portfolio to hold some class work, and my new Mickey lanyard. My mandala tapestry should have gotten here on Monday (which my tracking thing said it DID ITS SOMEWHERE) but when I asked the mailing office if they had it they looked it up and said they didn't. Um okay? Even though it is tracked by scans and the scan SAID it was left at the front desk. They suggested I wait a few days cause it might mean that its in Sarasota but not at Ringling. EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS ITS DELIVERED I LITERALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THEIR LOGIC. So I waited. Till today (Friday). What motivated me was my lovely parents' care package arrived. AT LEAST THAT GOT HERE.
